Do you get stuck in traffic and want to find solutions? Want to discuss ways to improve transit in Rhode Island? How we can improve the bike and pedestrian network in your neighborhood? Do you want to discuss ways the State should address driverless cars? If Yes Department of Administrations Division of Statewide Planning is holding a series of public workshops to talk to the residents and business owners of ways how we can together improve Rhode Islands transportation network. These public workshops will help set future transportation priorities as part of the Rhode Island Moving Forward 2040 Plan. The Department of Administrations Division of Statewide Planning is managing this transportation planning initiative in partnership with RIDOT and RIPTA. The Rhode Island Moving Forward 2040 Plan is the states guide for future investments in all modes of transportation over the next 20 yearsbicycle, pedestrian, bus, car, train.

To gather public feedback, there will be four rounds of Public Workshops held throughout the state. The first round is our Discovery and Outreach Public workshop where we will explain what the Long-Range Transportation Plan is and hear Rhode Island residents ideas, thoughts and goals for the future and how transportation can help meet these goals.

Project Launch - Rhode Island Moving Forward: Transportation for the Next 20 Years

Friday, April 21, 2017, PAFF Auditorium, URI, 80 Washington Street, Providence, RI

The Long-Range Transportation Plan is a 20-year action plan that details the transportation investments and policies necessary to grow Rhode Islands economy and meet the needs of residents, businesses and visitors, now and in the future. At this event, we will describe what transportation projects are currently underway, what our neighboring states are planning, and discuss challenges and trends that affect how we plan for the next two decades. In tandem with the Long-Range Transportation Plan, the State is also preparing for its first Bicycle Mobility Plan. This standalone plan will outline investments needed to enhance Rhode Islands bicycle network, foster active transportation to jobs, schools and recreation, and grow Rhode Islands bicycle tourism potential. The event will conclude with an introduction to the planning team and the 18-month planning schedule, including public outreach and feedback opportunities.
